Proglacial area Matsch/Mazia

This site was established in 2011 by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano within the project EMERGE. It contains multiple transects and eight automatic NEE-chambers. Vegetation/soil characteristics and microbial communities in the glacial foreland are also of interest because of the nature of the site. Since 2012 the morphological evolution of the proglacial area is monitored.

Location and amenities:

Electricity is produced onsite via solar panels. Accommodation is available in the nearest village (Mazia/Matsch). The transects are only accessible by foot.
